The Coaching & Mentoring Foundation

How the work
is held.

This page exists for the people who want to understand the professional and ethical framework behind Time for U before they begin. What coaching and mentoring actually involves. How engagements are structured. How the first conversation works. And what happens in the background to keep the work rigorous and safe.

The theory informed it. The life tested it.

Coaching and Mentoring

Two disciplines.
One relationship.

Coaching and mentoring are distinct disciplines — and Time for U uses both, ethically and with clear purpose, within the same engagement when appropriate.

Coaching

A forward-focused, non-directive process. The coach does not give advice or direct. They ask the questions that help the client find their own answers, build their own clarity and move toward their own goals.

The client holds the agenda. The coach holds the space.

Mentoring

A guiding relationship that draws on the mentor's own experience. Where coaching asks questions, mentoring may offer perspective, lived insight and direction — from someone who has navigated similar terrain.

Sheona brings 25 years of cross-sector experience to the mentoring relationship.

TFU moves between coaching and mentoring within the same engagement — with transparency and with the client's awareness. The approach is always chosen in service of what the client needs, not what is most convenient.

Ethical note

Time for U operates within the EMCC Global Code of Ethics and ILM Level 5 framework throughout.

The Methodology

Locate. Illuminate.
Move. Embed.

Every engagement at Time for U moves through four stages. Not rigidly — the pace is always set by the client — but with a consistent direction: from where you are, toward where you want to be.

L

Locate

Identify where you are and what is truly at stake. Not the presenting issue — the real one underneath it.

I

Illuminate

Surface what is driving and blocking progress. Patterns, beliefs, narratives — examined honestly and without judgement.

M

Move

Build the plan. Set the goals. Start moving with intention and a clear sense of direction.

E

Embed

Anchor the change. Make it sustainable. Build the habits and awareness that make the shift last.

The tools I use are not mine — they are the best of what exists. The value is not only the tool. It is knowing which one, when, and how to hold it with care.

Engagement Structure

Three tiers.
One starting point.

Every engagement begins with a free thirty-minute conversation. From there, the right tier is agreed together — based on what you need, not what is easiest to sell.

Tier 1

Crossroads Clarity

4 sessions

The focused engagement. For the person at a specific decision point, transition or turning point. A contained piece of work with a clear centre. Fortnightly — approximately 8 weeks. 90 minutes per session. Includes a single follow-up check-in at 6 weeks after completion.

Tier 2

The Purpose Finder

8 sessions

The full engagement. For the person ready to do deeper work — across identity, direction, leadership or life design. Monthly or fortnightly. 90–120 minutes per session. Includes one mid-point review and one follow-up check-in after completion.

Tier 3

The Ongoing Partnership

12 sessions

For the individual or organisation committed to sustained development. Monthly. 90–180 minutes per session. Reviewed quarterly. For leaders, entrepreneurs and those navigating ongoing complexity who want a consistent, purposeful thinking space.

Investment is discussed in the thirty-minute conversation. It is not displayed on this page because the right engagement for you matters more than the price. Pricing is always transparent once the fit is established.

Ethical note

Sheona personally holds a small client group — deliberately. Because the quality of the work depends entirely on the quality of the attention. Not every enquiry becomes a client. That is a choice this practice makes before any client walks through the door.

The First Conversation

How the relationship
begins.

Every engagement begins the same way — with a thirty-minute conversation that costs nothing and commits to nothing. Here is what happens from there.

01

You complete the discovery form

Before the thirty-minute conversation, a short form gives Sheona the context she needs — who you are, what brings you, what you would most like to leave with. Everything shared is confidential.

02

Thirty minutes with Sheona

No pitch. No performance. A genuine conversation about where you are, where you want to go, and whether Time for U is the right space. You will know by the end.

03

If it is the right fit

Sheona will confirm the recommended engagement tier, the investment, the session cadence, and send a warm welcome document. Simple. Human. Clear.

04

Before your first session

You will receive a Coaching Agreement, an Intake Client Form, and a Privacy Notice. These protect you. They are not lengthy legal documents — they are the foundation of a professional relationship.

Something Distinctive

The work does not stop
when the sessions do.

At the close of every engagement, Time for U offers a complimentary 30-minute review session.

Not a sales call. Not a check-in for the practice’s benefit. A dedicated thirty minutes — for you — to reflect on where the work has landed, what has shifted, and what is still in motion.

Because the work does not stop when the sessions do. And we want to know it held.

Post-Engagement Review

30

minutes  ·  complimentary

Booked in your final session

Taken at 1, 2 or up to 3 months after

No obligation — to continue or to do anything

For you. Not for us.

When it happens

It can be taken at one month, two months, or any point up to three months after your final session. It is booked in your last session — so you leave knowing it is there if you want it.

Ethical note

The post-engagement review does not constitute a new coaching or mentoring engagement. It is offered and agreed at the final session, defined in the client agreement, and carries no obligation of continuation on either side.

Professional Standards

What happens
in the background.

The work you experience in a coaching or mentoring session is supported by a rigorous professional framework that you never have to think about — but that is always there.

Supervision

Professional supervision — ongoing

Sheona works with a qualified supervisor on a regular basis. Supervision is not a sign of difficulty — it is an ethical requirement. It protects you.

CPD

Continuing Professional Development

Ongoing learning across coaching methodology, psychology, leadership and human development. The practice does not stand still.

Insurance

Professional indemnity & public liability

TFU carries appropriate professional insurance for a coaching and mentoring practice. Details available on request.

Documentation

Client agreement & privacy

Every engagement begins with a Coaching Agreement, Intake Form and Privacy Notice — held securely and in accordance with UK GDPR.

Scope

Limits of proficiency

TFU works within clearly defined limits. When a client needs something beyond the scope of coaching and mentoring, Sheona will say so — and help identify the right support.

Ethics

EMCC Global Code of Ethics

The highest standard wherever frameworks differ. TFU applies EMCC ethics, ILM Level 5 frameworks and BACP ethical principles — all three, simultaneously.

This combination is what keeps clients, individuals and organisations safe. It is why TFU can go to the places this work sometimes needs to go — without operating beyond its limits of proficiency.

Every Journey Begins with One Conversation.

The context is always different.
The human experience underneath it never is.

Thirty minutes with Sheona. No pitch. No commitment. No pressure. Just an honest conversation about where you are and where you are headed — and whether Time for U is the right space to help you get there.

Whatever brings you here — you will meet with understanding.
