The belief in the philosophy of language behind the practice

commUnity

Common + Unity  ·  That which is shared, held in common, united

Common unity is not a metaphor. It is what community has always meant — people, holding what matters, together. Across cultures. Across generations. Across every version of a life that needs more than one pair of hands to carry it.

Ora na azu nwa — “it takes the community to raise a child”

West African Proverb  ·  Found across many cultures, languages and traditions

“It took a community to light me back up. ”

At Time for U, this is the conviction behind everything.

When one person moves forward with clarity and intention, the effect does not stay contained. It travels — into their relationships, their families, the teams they lead, the communities, and the villages they are part of.

The Three Pillars

What the commUnity
actually holds.

No one person holds all the answers. The community holds them — together.

The one-to-one coaching and mentoring engagement — purposeful, confidential, built entirely around the individual.

When what someone needs goes beyond what coaching and mentoring can offer — Sheona will name that clearly and help find the right person.

The Ripple Effect

When you rise, they rise,
we all rise.

One person moving forward with clarity does not only change their own life. The ripple moves outward. This is not metaphor. It is what happens in practice — in rooms, in families, in organisations, in communities.

Intentional Mindful Relationships — IMR

The common Unity principle
applied to connection.

The most important relationships in a life are not separate from this philosophy — they are its expression. Intentional Mindful Relationships brings the same purposeful depth to connection itself — built on values, intention and genuine compatibility, as well as algorithms and appearances.

Because the community is not built from transactions. It is built from relationships entered into with intention. Each one a thread. Together, a community.

Common unity builds community. Intentional connection is where it begins.

The Village Principle Applied

No single person — however skilled, however present — can or should be everything to everyone at every stage of a life.

TFU exists not to be everything to everyone, but to be part of something bigger — a positive, empowering ecosystem where people, communities and partners come together to help each other grow. We connect, we signpost, and we champion the right support at the right time — whether that’s clinical, holistic, creative or personal.

Think of it as a committed part of a Village — invested in better networks, better outcomes, and the belief that when the right people find each other, extraordinary things happen.

To see someone through the ebbs and flows of life, it takes a community — all its joy and heartbreak, and all that floats between — no single person can or should hold that alone.

Time for U  ·  Adapted from a proverb rooted in West African tradition

One hand wash the other, together dey wash the face

When we support each other, everything flows better.

Trinidad & Tobago proverb  ·  TFU proverbs series

UK equivalent: “Many hands make light work.”

UK equivalent  ·  TFU proverbs series

Etymology: community from Old French communauté, from Latin communitas — from communis (common, shared by all) + -itas (the state of being). The deeper root: com- (together) + munus (gift, duty) — community as the act of giving among each other.

A community, built with intention.

Time for U is not a large practice.
It is a precise one.

One-to-one. Personal. Purposeful. With a clear boundary around what it does and what it points toward when what is needed lies beyond it. Giving a ripple that begins in one room, with one person, and travels further than either of us can see from here.
